We are currently looking for a purchaser to handle the procurement of goods and services required by the company. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the incumbent will work in close collaboration with stakeholders from various sectors of the company. The purchaser plays an important role at Rheinmetall Canada and we are looking for someone proactive who enjoys working on varied projects in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the best procurement strategy to meet project needs and internal clients while respecting budgets and schedules.
  • Identify new sources of supply, participate in supplier qualification and performance evaluation.
  • Prepare and send requests for quotation, analyze proposals, prepare comparative tables and purchasing recommendations based on the objectives and imperatives of each project.
  • Prepare purchase orders, identify 2D and 3D drawing revisions (when applicable), and communicate commercial and alternative part numbers.
  • Coordinate deviation requests with engineering and the supplier, and take necessary steps to document everything.
  • Negotiate the best possible conditions and manage supplier relations and non-conformance or non-performance issues.
  • Actively participate in project reviews, ensure the exchange of information and good collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in projects or during visits to local or foreign suppliers (occasional).

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Hold a DEC, or equivalent, in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a purchasing position with knowledge in mechanics and/or electronics.
  • Be comfortable with negotiation and familiar with best purchasing and logistics practices.
  • Master French and English (oral and written)*.
  • Master Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel, as well as the SAP® software package.
  • Be autonomous, rigorous, dynamic, and have the necessary flexibility to quickly adapt to priorities and changes.
  • Possess an excellent sense of ethics and responsibilities.
  • Available to travel occasionally.
