Reliability Analyst

The Reliability Analyst will extract and analyze aircraft reliability data to improve the reliability performance of the Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge fleet. The incumbent reports to and works closely with the Manager - Reliability and ETOPS in all activities related to the establishment and management of the reliability and Extended-Range Twin-Engine Operational Performance Standards (ETOPS) program.

Responsibilities:

The Reliability Analyst will work closely with the Reliability and ETOPS Manager to support the development, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Air Canada's fleet reliability program from a maintenance perspective. The position also includes support for Air Canada's ETOPS program. The routine responsibilities of the reliability analyst include, but are not limited to:

• Collect and analyze monthly and quarterly reliability statistics for each fleet, by ATA chapter and by system, to establish priorities and participate in Fleet Reliability Working Groups.
• Monitor and analyze the reliability performance of Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge fleets, including ETOPS parameters.
• Collect, validate, and analyze reliability data by ATA chapter, system, component, and failure category to identify trends and factors contributing to performance deterioration.
• Conduct detailed reliability investigations to identify recurring defects, emerging trends, failure modes, and factors contributing to fleet performance.
• Prepare and distribute quarterly reports to stakeholders, including Transport Canada and Air Canada senior management. This requires reviewing and understanding incident reports, defect corrections, and engineering reports to produce comprehensive summaries.
• Identify risks related to fleet, system, and component reliability, and proactively report areas requiring special attention before a significant operational impact occurs.
• Formulate technical recommendations, mitigation strategies, and improvement plans to discuss with Engineering, Fleet Management, Supply Chain teams, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in the preparation and facilitation of Fleet Reliability Working Groups (RWG), including the development of agendas, deep dives, technical presentations, and follow-up on corrective actions.
• Support the daily activities of the ETOPS reliability program.
• Coordinate data collection from multiple departments and perform the analyses necessary to produce ETOPS reports and presentations.
• Review significant ETOPS-related events, including in-flight engine shutdowns (IFSD), diversions, returns to origin, and other critical events, and contribute to the evaluation of corrective actions.
• Participate in multidisciplinary investigations involving Engineering, Maintenance, Flight Operations, Supply Chain teams, OEMs, and suppliers, as needed.
• Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and a high level of professionalism to contribute to the overall success of the team in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment.

Qualifications

• College or university degree in engineering, aeronautics, statistics, data analysis, aircraft maintenance, or a related field.
• Ability to independently conduct investigations and analyses using multiple data sources, with minimal supervision.
• Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to identify failure patterns, recurring defects, emerging trends, and potential failure modes from technical analyses.
• General knowledge of aircraft systems, including propulsion, electrical, hydraulic, avionics, and structural systems, as well as ATA chapters.
• Good understanding of aviation maintenance practices, reliability programs, and airline operations.
• Knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (RAC/CARs) as well as Transport Canada guidelines relating to ETOPS program requirements.
• Ability to develop data-driven practical recommendations and improvement plans.
• Experience in analyzing large datasets and synthesizing information from multiple sources.
• Experience with business intelligence, reporting, data analysis, or reliability tools would be considered an asset (Power BI, Skywise, AirbusWorld Apps, MyBoeingFleet Apps, etc.).
