Reporting to the Senior Director, Human Resources, the incumbent is responsible for defining and implementing strategies related to health, safety and attendance at work. They provide leadership for prevention programs, workers' compensation management, disability, accommodation and return-to-work programs, while helping to promote a culture of respect, prevention and continuous improvement.
What you will accomplish
- Develop and implement strategies, programs and performance indicators in health, safety and attendance at work.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding occupational health and safety.
- Lead, mobilize and develop a multidisciplinary team specializing in OHS and attendance at work.
- Supervise investigations related to incidents, workplace accidents and occupational illnesses and ensure follow-up on corrective actions.
- Develop strategies aimed at reducing risks, preventing accidents and fostering a safe work environment.
- Ensure integrated management of workers' compensation, disability, accommodation and functional limitation cases.
- Implement maintenance and return-to-work strategies that promote sustainable and safe reintegration of employees.
- Advise and support managers in complex situations related to health, attendance at work and accommodation obligations.
- Play a leading role in the prevention of workplace violence and harassment and support the implementation of related programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with union partners, insurers, external suppliers and various stakeholders to ensure effective management of risks and attendance at work.
- Monitor performance indicators, costs and trends to guide the organization's decisions and priorities.
What you bring
- University degree in industrial relations, human resources, occupational health and safety or a related field.
- Significant experience in a management role in health and safety, disability management, or workplace attendance management.
- Recognized experience in team management and supporting managers in a unionized environment.
- Excellent knowledge of laws (federal and provincial) and regulations regarding occupational health and safety as well as disability management and return-to-work practices.
- Strong leadership, influencing, change management and problem-solving skills.
- Strategic, results-oriented and continuous improvement approach.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting partnerships.
- Mastery of French and English, both spoken and written.
