Summary

The Aviation Technical Services Manager is responsible for strategic leadership, operational supervision, and regulatory compliance of the company's specialized technical services programs across its national and international network. This includes overseeing non-destructive testing (NDT) services, support for in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) systems (Intelsat/Viasat), FedEx line maintenance support operations in Casper, Wyoming, aircraft potable water sampling programs, and other specialized technical services.

The incumbent ensures that these technical service lines are operated safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, while maintaining complete compliance with Transport Canada, FAA, client, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) requirements. The position is responsible for harmonizing and standardizing processes across multiple sites, managing technical personnel and subcontractors, developing new service offerings, and supporting business growth.

This role acts as the subject matter expert for specialized technical services and works closely with the maintenance operations, quality assurance, continuing airworthiness, maintenance control, procurement, sales teams, and clients to deliver high-quality maintenance support services.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all aviation technical services operations across the company network
  • Develop standardized procedures and best practices for specialized maintenance services
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and consistent service delivery across all facilities
  • Monitor operational performance and resource utilization
  • Support the expansion of technical services capabilities to new sites and client markets
  • In collaboration with the Director of Maintenance and the Sales team, identify opportunities to expand technical services capabilities through:
    • New offerings for clients
    • Integration of emerging technologies
    • Partnerships with original equipment manufacturers
    • Obtaining additional certifications
    • Technical training
    • Equipment investments
    • Process improvement
    • Support for strategic growth initiatives
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by:
    • Supporting hazard identification
    • Participating in risk assessments
    • Investigating technical services-related incidents
    • Implementing corrective measures
    • Monitoring safety trends
    • Participating in occupational health and safety meetings
    • Supporting change management activities
  • Ensure compliance with the following requirements:
    • Canadian Aviation Regulations
    • FAA regulations, when required
    • Approved maintenance organization procedures
    • Client maintenance requirements
    • Original equipment manufacturer technical documentation
    • Industry standards
    • Certification requirements
    • Regulatory audits and client audits
  • Provide leadership and supervision to technical specialists, including:
    • Non-destructive testing personnel
    • IFEC technicians
    • Water sampling personnel
    • FedEx line maintenance personnel
    • Contract technical specialists
  • Responsibilities include:

  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving:

    • Digital processes
    • Client responsiveness
    • Technical capabilities
    • Business growth
    • Lean and continuous improvement initiatives within the department

Requirements

Training

  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license, an asset.
  • College or university diploma in aeronautical maintenance, engineering, aviation management, or a related field, an asset.

Experience and Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aeronautical maintenance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience managing specialized technical services in the aviation field.
  • Experience within an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) certified by Transport Canada.
  • Experience working with FAA regulatory requirements is an asset.
  • Experience managing multiple operating sites.
  • Experience managing client contracts and vendor relations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English.
  • Availability for regular travel (approximately 20% to 30% of the time) to company facilities and client sites across Canada and the United States.
