The incumbent comes into direct contact with the public and employees of Air Canada, other carriers and other agencies, providing them with services in the cargo warehouses, according to the Corporation's guidelines. Air Canada encourages internal advancement, and as a result, opportunities may arise for the incumbent to act as Lead Warehouse Attendant, as needed.

Responsibilities :

• Accept and deliver cargo and mail while verifying the number of pieces. Ensure the accuracy of related documents and the proper marking and labeling of the shipment.
• Prepare and breakdown pallets, containers and bulk carts.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Store cargo and stow mail in the warehouse at appropriate locations, recording them as needed.
• Respond to requests for information from the public, other carriers, agencies and Air Canada personnel.
• Transport manually or mechanically (e.g. with a forklift) cargo and mail.
• Drive Company vehicles, as needed.
• Deliver transshipments to other carriers, as needed.
• Accept and process dangerous goods or regulated shipments, in accordance with Company rules and government agency rules.
• Perform weekly square-away and storage checks to facilitate the location of missing cargo or mail.
• Ensure damaged cargo or mail is reported correctly, in accordance with Company procedures
• Maintain direct liaison with lead agents, coordinators and managers regarding daily operational concerns.
• Keep up-to-date airside pass issued by the British Airport Authority, as needed.
• Ensure compliance with AC online training.
• Ensure compliance with online training offered by Air Canada University.

Qualifications

• Experience in freight warehouse, an asset.
• Ability to work under pressure, plan workload and meet deadlines with minimum supervision.
• Tact, judgment and keen sense of initiative.
• Team spirit and ability to represent Air Canada in a professional manner.
• Valid forklift operation permit.
• Security training by the DfT (Department for Transport).

Employment conditions :

Candidates must be eligible to work in the country concerned at the time an offer of employment is presented and are responsible for obtaining work permits, visas or other necessary authorizations. Proof of eligibility must be provided before the start date.

Language Requirements

Good working knowledge of English.
