View all the job opportunities for this companyWe are supporting our client, a major player in the Canadian aerospace industry, in their search for an Engineering Professional – Aerostructure Integrator.
In this role, you will be called upon to independently carry out defined technical mandates and contribute to engineering decisions according to established practices. You will participate in the design and integration of aircraft structures, from concept development to detailed definition, while providing support for production, certification, and in-service modifications.
Role and Responsibilities
Structural Design and Definition
- Develop and review structural concepts, 3D models, assemblies, installation drawings, and detail drawings for assigned aircraft zones.
- Define metallic and composite parts, joints, interfaces, fastening concepts, and tolerances according to applicable requirements.
- Apply good design practices considering load paths, manufacturability, assembly, inspection, maintainability, weight, and cost.
- Ensure the quality and maturity of the technical definition until its release to production.
Technical Integration and Collaboration
- Coordinate structural definition with loads and stress, materials and processes, systems installation, aerodynamics, interiors, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Identify and resolve geometric conflicts and physical interface issues.
- Support technical trade-off studies to identify appropriate design solutions.
- Participate in design reviews and clearly communicate design intent, assumptions, constraints, and technical challenges.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure optimal integration of structural solutions.
Production, Certification, and Compliance
- Support justification and certification activities by providing a complete, traceable, and technically justified design definition.
- Support investigations related to issues encountered in production, with suppliers, and in-service.
- Participate in root cause analyses and the implementation of design corrective actions.
- Manage design changes and maintain product configuration and definition data in the applicable PLM environment.
- Perform technical checks, investigate issues, and recommend solutions in accordance with established methods and standards.
- Identify technical risks and ensure reliable follow-up on the progress of mandates.
Profile Sought
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a relevant discipline.
- A technologist diploma may be considered depending on relevant experience.
- Typically 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in the design, definition, or integration of aircraft structures is highly sought after.
Technical Knowledge
- Good knowledge of aircraft structural configuration and detailed design.
- Knowledge of metallic and composite structure design principles.
- Good understanding of joints, fasteners, tolerances, and GD&T principles.
- Experience with technical drawings, 3D definition, manufacturability, assembly, and inspection.
- Knowledge of aerospace design materials, processes, and standards.
- Understanding of certification and configuration management principles.
Tools and Methods
- Mastery of CATIA V5.
- Knowledge of ENOVIA and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of NX and Teamcenter is an asset.
- Good understanding of PLM, product definition, engineering changes, and configuration management processes.
