OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

The structural technician or sheet metal worker works within the aircraft maintenance team which is responsible for carrying out the repair and modification of the structure, as well as sheet metal fabrication in order to replace damaged parts of the aircraft and flight control surfaces.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Repair, replace and rebuild aircraft structure (i.e. wings and fuselage) to varying degrees of difficulty, using hand tools, power tools, machinery and equipment (i.e. sheet metal bending and shearing equipment, welding equipment, riveting gun and drills);
• Apply required expertise to perform structural repairs and modifications and apply comprehensive technical expertise to resolve moderate to complex problems;
• Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing defective or damaged components;
• Perform damage assessment for engineering;
• Work closely with the team leader to ensure the work is completed on schedule;
• Ensure that work is performed in accordance with Skyservice standards, policies and procedures and applicable regulations (Transport Canada, etc.);
• Perform parts and supplies ordering.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in sheet metal work;
• Experience related to aviation is an asset;
• S license considered an asset;
• AVOP (D/A or D) and valid radio license;
• Valid Transport Canada Category M license is considered an asset;
• Knowing how to operate welding and brazing equipment is an asset;
• Able to work under pressure, and quickly adapt to changes and flexible shifts;
• Have attention to detail and be safety conscious in all procedures;
• Good communication skills and a good team spirit.

EDUCATION:

• Diploma in structures or sheet metal work or the equivalent.
